Who is behind it?

WATT is published by Nordic Bike Shows ApS, the company that also runs Copenhagen Bike Show and VeloDays. We say so openly, because the exhibitors are our business. That is why paid content is always clearly labelled as partner content, and WATT follows the Danish press ethics guidelines.

Born into cycling

My name is Christian Ritter, and I am the editor of WATT. My father is Ole Ritter. He raced as a professional from 1967 to 1978, set the hour record in Mexico City in 1968 and finished seventh in the Giro d'Italia in 1973. After his career he imported cycling clothing and equipment. So bikes have been part of my life from the very beginning.

In 2015 I started Copenhagen Bike Show, and in 2022 VeloDays in Jutland followed. Every day I talk to retailers, importers and manufacturers from all over Europe. They are the ones with the stories, and WATT is where those stories are told.

Why WATT?

The idea came from the exhibitors. Again and again they told me about new bikes, strong people and great stories that nobody heard about. The show lasts two days. The stories are there all year round.

I missed a Danish cycling magazine with video, with room for the whole world of cycling and with people at the centre. It is not only about road bikes and specs. It is also about the cargo bike, the commuter, the club and the volunteer who keeps it all going. That is why I started WATT.

Video is the heart of WATT. When you see and hear people tell their story in their own words, you get close to them. Most of us read on our phones, so the stories have to work there.

WATT is free, and it will stay that way. Cycling should be for everyone, and so should the stories about cycling. Advertisers, partners and Copenhagen Bike Show pay for it. Ads buy space, never coverage. We do not test products or give ratings. We write our own content.

WATT is for everyone who rides a bike. My hope is that it makes you want to ride, makes you curious and makes you feel part of the community. And that it makes you want to see it all in real life at the show.

WATT should be the place where you find the stories from the Danish cycling world.
